Windscreen Tinting

Professional window film for greater privacy, UV protection and a sleek look. Choose from a range of tint levels.

Privacy, comfort and style, all in one treatment

Tinting car windows is not just an aesthetic upgrade — it also offers privacy, reduces sunlight entering the car and provides protection against UV radiation. Window film blocks up to 99% of UVA and UVB rays, helping to keep the cabin cooler in summer and reducing glare from the low sun. WrapBaas applies professional window film to all side windows, rear windows and, if desired, the windscreen (with a light tint). Combine tinted windows with smoked-glass lamps for a dark exterior finish.

What shades are available?

Window film is expressed as a VLT (Visible Light Transmission) percentage: the lower the percentage, the darker the tint. Popular options include 70% VLT (light tint, barely visible), 50% VLT (subtly tinted, clearly visible in daylight), 35% VLT (clearly dark, popular for side windows), and 20% VLT (deep tint, maximum privacy). For the windscreen, we work exclusively with light tints that comply with legal requirements. Would you like to extend the dark theme? Then combine it with chrome delete for a completely black exterior finish.

Legal regulations regarding tinted windows in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands, the windscreen and front side windows must have a minimum light transmission of 70% (VLT 70% or higher). There are no legal restrictions on VLT for rear windows and rear side windows, but the car must be fitted with two wing mirrors. WrapBaas always advises on legal options and operates in accordance with the Dutch RDW guidelines.

Benefits of professionally fitted window film

Professionally fitted window film has no bubbles, trapped dust or uneven edges. The film is cut to size using plotter templates designed specifically for your car, ensuring that all corners and contours fit perfectly. Cheap DIY tints start to look faded and purple after just a year — high-quality professional film retains its colour and performance for years. Would you like to give the exterior of your car a complete makeover too? Then car wrapping the perfect addition to a complete makeover.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

How much does it cost to have car windows tinted?
Window tinting on the rear windows (side windows and rear window) usually costs €150–350, depending on the number of windows, the car model and the quality of film chosen. A full treatment, including the front side windows with a light tint, costs €200–450. Request a quote for your specific vehicle.
What is the legal tint percentage in the Netherlands?
The windscreen and front side windows must have a light transmission of at least 70% (VLT 70% or higher). There is no legal VLT limit for rear windows and rear side windows, provided the car has two wing mirrors.
How long does the treatment take?
Fitting window film usually takes 2–4 hours, depending on the number of windows and the car model. Your car will be ready the same day.
How long does it take to set?
Window film takes 3 to 7 days to bond fully. During this time, small air bubbles may be visible — this is normal and will disappear on its own. Avoid washing the windows during the first week.
Can I have just the rear window tinted?
Yes. Partial tinting is possible — for example, just the rear window or just the rear side windows. We can advise you on the most aesthetically consistent combination for your car.
Can window film be removed as well?
Yes. Window film is removable, although this may take a bit more effort with older or cheaper film. High-quality film fitted by a professional is easier to remove than budget self-adhesive film.
Does window film help with the heat inside the car?
Yes. Window film significantly reduces the amount of solar heat entering the vehicle, helping to keep the cabin cooler. Some types of film also block infrared (IR) radiation, which is even more effective.
Is the film visible from the inside?
With darker tints, the film appears slightly darker from the inside in low-light conditions. During the day, the impact on visibility is minimal with standard tints (35–50% VLT). Very dark tints (20% VLT and below) reduce visibility more at night.
Can I carry on using my electric windows as normal?
Yes. Window film does not affect the operation of electric windows. We do, however, recommend that you do not lower the windows during the first week so that the film can cure properly along the edges.
